Thanksgiving Point’s annual Tulip Festival, presented by Mountain America Credit Union, returns to the Ashton Gardens from April 7 and is now extended to May 20!

Over 750,000 spring flowers, including tulips, daffodils, hyacinths, poppies, and more create the award-winning Tulip Festival – an unforgettable display of color and design through the 50-acre Ashton Gardens. Whether you’re celebrating spring with a general admission ticket or experiencing one of our curated packages, you won’t want to miss Utah’s favorite flower festival, only at Thanksgiving Point.

State of the Tulips

I got a pocket, got a pocket full of tulips. I got a spring and I know that it’s all mine. Oh. Oh whoa oh.

Spring never looked so gorgeous! We are smack dab in the middle of the season, which means the early-season tulips are finishing up, a lot of our mid-season tulips are in full bloom, and our late-season tulips are making their way into the mix. More fun in the sun is coming up this weekend, including:

🌷 Mid-Season Flowers: You’ll see some taller, more colorful tulips this week! The Thanksgiving Point tulip, named after us in honor of our 25th anniversary, is blooming (picture 1), plus the colorful Rasta Parrot (picture 2) and Sunrise Dynasty (picture 3). Other flowers to see right now are Euphorbia polychroma, Muscari Ocean Magic, and Crabapple (picture 4).

🌷 Tulip Festival Photo Contest: This week’s theme is IN FULL BLOOM! 🌸💐🌼 There are so many different flowers and arrangements blooming right now, and we want to see the best of the best! Take your pics and submit them to the Thanksgiving Point app. Our panel of judges will review the photos and the winner will be featured on our Instagram, on the I-15 marquee, and will win a Family Membership! Submit your blooming photos by May 16! 🌺

🌷 Lyceum Philharmonic Concert: The award-winning Lyceum Philharmonic comes to the Tulip Festival this SATURDAY, May 13, at 7:30 pm! 🎻 🥁 Watch them perform hits from their eight commercial albums in this spectacular concert at the base of the Waterfall Amphitheatre. You can get GA tickets included with Tulip Festival admission, or get Reserved Seating in a low-back chair. Please note that there will not be live music in the Gardens before the concert on Saturday due to set-up constraints.

🌷 Did you know it takes over 5,000 hours of manpower to plant all of the Thanksgiving Point spring bulbs every year? 🌱 Our Horticulture team plants over 500,000 spring bulbs, including daffodils, hyacinths, crocus, and (obviously) tulips, every October to make sure they bloom in the spring. They must be planted in October to give them the required amount of chilling time needed to get nice and tall for the Tulip Festival. The Horticulture team does this every year while also setting up Luminaria – so please take a second this week to thank your friendly horticulturist in the Ashton Gardens should you run into them. 🙏💗💌

Plein Air Festival

May 20 | 9 am – 12 pm

Come paint with us! Paint alongside many of Utah’s most prominent artists during Harrington Center for the Arts’ third annual Plein Air event on Saturday, May 20 from 9 am -12 pm. Watch as the masterpieces come to life while enjoying the last day of the Tulip Festival.

Record-Breaking Tulip Festival

Last October, over 100 volunteers joined Thanksgiving Point’s Gardens Team and planted 41,089 bulbs in one hour – successfully breaking a world record. Keep your eye out for these record-breaking tulips as you make your way through the gardens!

Join the award-winning Lyceum Philharmonic as they bring the Tulip Festival to a climactic close with a crowd-pleasing Grand Finale concert at the Waterfall Amphitheatre located inside the Ashton Gardens at Thanksgiving Point.

Thanksgiving Point Tulip

The tulipa Thanksgiving Point is a bright yellow, lily-shaped, fragrant tulip that blooms in the late spring. Look for signs noting this unique bloom when you visit.

Tulip Festival Photo Contest

Come visit the Tulip Festival and use your creative eye to take the perfect shot that fulfills that week’s prompt! A new prompt will be posted each week. Photo submissions will be accepted on the Thanksgiving Point app.

Each Friday during the Tulip Festival (starting April 14), Thanksgiving Point judges will select a Photo of the Week which will be featured on Thanksgiving Point’s Instagram page (@thankspoint), and on the Thanksgiving Point marquee for the duration of the week. Each chosen photo will win one Family Membership to Thanksgiving Point.

Yoga in the Gardens with Brick Canvas

Find serenity and mindfulness amongst the budding tulips. Led by Brick Canvas’s world-class yoga instructors, these Friday morning classes will help you soak in all that spring has to offer. All levels are welcome, just bring your yoga mat and water bottle!

Living Pansy Wreath

Welcome spring to your home with a living pansy wreath to decorate your front door. This workshop, led by Ashton Gardens Container Specialist JaNae Jorgensen, will detail wreath assembly and care/maintenance of your wreath. After class, take your beautiful wreath home or gift it to a loved one!

Spring Centerpiece Floral Design with Gather Floral

Join Sydnee of Gather Floral (@gatherfloral) in the Ashton Gardens to learn the principles of centerpiece design with some of the most beautiful springtime blooms. This class is excellent for both new and experienced floral enthusiasts.

Watercolor Painting Class

Enjoy the views of the Gardens while taking a step-by-step watercolor painting class with Mourina Nielson, creator and owner of Starry Strokes (@starrystrokes). This class is for artists of all skill levels who are are interested in becoming better artists, all while admiring the beauty of the Gardens.

Floral Photography

Take your photography to the next level! Join instructor Ginger Livingston for her class on capturing flowers and other natural life. By the end of this session, students will have a more complete understanding of how to use their equipment and the environment to create beautiful floral photographs at any time of year.

This class will cover camera settings, do’s and don’ts, lighting tips, the artistic eye, creative angles, storytelling, exposure, composition, and some post-production. Class format will include some classroom instruction before going out into the Ashton Gardens to apply skills just before sunset. Join Tara from Flowers Of The Press to learn the best way to preserve flowers and hold on to your memories forever! This is a great class for all who want to learn a unique flower preservation skill.
